Cement Board Screws

We stock cement board screws in various diameters and lengths but what are cement board screws? In fact what are cement boards? Let's take a look

What are Cement Boards?

Cement boards also known as concrete boards are used to cover walls, ceilings and floors to be used as a backing for often tiles or poured cement. Cement boards add impact resistance and strength to the wall surface as compared to gypsum boards/drywall.

Cement boards are a totally different product to drywall and as such require their own fasteners. Compared to drywall, cement boards offer superior durability as the material is specifically engineered to withstand heavy loads without sagging or warping. It is highly resistant to moisture, mould and mildew, ensuring longevity in wet environments such as bathrooms and kitchens

In order for the barrier to be strong, you need strong fasteners — that’s where the right screw choice can make a difference in your job.

What screw to choose?

To best attach cement boards, you should use screws designed specifically for concrete board installations. Screws made for cement boards will have small grooves directly under the screw head. This allows the screw to dig into the cement board for a stronger hold. These screws have extra-sharp points and wide threads to help them sit flush against the board.

Cement Board Screws we offer

You need to make sure you purchase the right screws to align the right thickness of cement board that you are installing. We offer high quality screws for fixing both the frames and the cement board.

Cement Board Screws (Hi-Lo thread)

 Available to purchase here

Designed for fixing cement board to timber and thin sheet metal (max. 0.6mm)

Grey Ruspert coating for superior corrosion resistance in damp or corrosive environments

Self countersinking head for a secure and flush finish

Twin-cut point with a hi-low thread

A Hi-Lo screw thread has a smaller minor diameter than a conventional screw. The high threads make a deeper cut into the material between the threads, which means there is a greater amount of material in contact with the high, sharp thread. This contributes to greater resistance to pullout and stronger fastening.

The angle of the high threads displace less material when it is driven into plastic or wood which means it requires lower driving torques. A greater amount of material remains between the high threads, increasing the stripping torque. Low driving torque and high stripping torque provide maximum protection against stripping problems.

Cement Board Screws (Self-Drilling)

Available to purchase here

Designed for fixing cement board steel dry-lining frames (max. 3.0mm)

Grey Ruspert coating for superior corrosion resistance in damp or co rrosive environments

Self countersinking head for a secure and flush finish

Self-drilling point with a self-tapping thread

Self-drilling screws enable the screws to drill into materials without the need for pre-drilled pilot holes, resulting in a more efficient fastening process.

Self-drilling screws can cut through a variety of materials including wood and metal such as softer steel. As a result of this, self-drilling screws are also ideal for more heavy-duty applications.
